An Evening at the Opera

There is something about classical music that takes me to a different place.  One song has the power to make you feel like a spy, undercover, during nazi Germany, while another song could take you across the planet to a tribal village in a rainforest.  It could be dangerous.  It could be an epic love story.  Or maybe it’s just me and my wild imagination.  Who really knows?  But that’s why I enjoy the symphony.

I grew up studying and being trained in classical music.  I have a great appreciation for the arts, and I’ve always felt a bit like an outsider in the States because of it.  It seems as if classical art appreciation/knowledge/understanding was lost in my generation.

In Europe, it seems to be a different story.  And in a country that is spoiled rotten with beauty, what a better place to enjoy the opera?  It was magical.  At least for me.  I fell back in love with my country and all of the people who came out to witness the same glorious display of art and culture.  How could one people group possibly get any more lovely?
