We got on a train from Rome Tiburtina and it was a beautiful 1-hour ride through Tuscany.
Upon arrival, our hotel was very easy to find, right near the train station and around the corner from Piazza Santa Maria Novella. The Bellevue House was a historic building and the family run staff meets you at the door to carry your luggage up 3 flights of stairs.
Right across the street was “the world’s first pharmacy” (which I highly doubt that title is actually correct). It was beautiful and smelled great. They sell soaps and organic supplements.
We sauntered around for 2 days, (covering 14 miles on foot!) enjoying the Renaissance culture and just being girls. My inner history nerd came to the surface in a hurry with random facts about every building and work of art we saw. I’ve always wanted to be a tour guide. (:
It was lovely to get away from the busyness and remember that… I live here.
