Instameet & Gladiator Spectacles

June 8, 2016 0 Comments

It was my final free Sunday with my girls, and perfect timing, actually!  Have you ever heard of an Instameet?  Well, I’ve wanted to be a part of one for years!  People that have a lot of followers post a time and a place to meet up and then get to know each other while they walk around and take Instagram photos together.  It always sounded so fun to me, despite my shy, introverted personality.

@dariusaryadigs, Darius, is someone I’ve been following for a while.  He is an archaeologist based in Rome.  Honestly, it’s kind of strange actually meeting people that you’ve creeped on Instagram several times.

He wanted to meet at the Temple of Hercules (pictured second to last) to talk to us a little bit about history, answer some questions, but mainly just hang out and head over to Circo Massimo to watch gladiator spectacles in honor of Rome’s 2762nd birthday, on April 21.

It was one of the most fun and well-spent afternoons I had while in Rome!  I will remember it forever.  I’m thankful to have met so many cool new people from all over the world, and to have acted like a tourist and be silly for a while with my girls.

If you’re on Instagram, go and follow some of the people I got to meet:

And if you ever hear of an Instameet in your area, go!  Trust me, it’s okay to step out of being comfortable sometimes and meet new people.  You will be pleasantly surprised.

Until the next one,
